Home Arts Winners at the Fair

The winners circle this year includes, in the back row (l-r) Laura Lebruska, Norma Wells, Jory Zurcher, Alissa Sweley, Joyce Schmunk, Marjorie Stauffer, Jeff Leanna and Ron Kephart. In the middle are Dorothy Oberg, Marcia Keller, Lori Carter, Samantha Rivera, Lori Karpen and Corlys Treffer. In front are Joel Painter, Jade Painter, Hassie Hood and Kenna Krahulik. Their award categories are listed below.

In the hand quilted category, Barbara Hassan of Scottsbluff took Champion honors and Edna Dudden of Morrill was Reserve Champion.

In the machine quilted category, Teri Morri of Minatare was Champion and Karen Smith of Gering was Reserve Champion.

In the needlecraft category, Dorothy Oberg of Henry was Champion and Marcia Keller of Scottsbluff was Reserve Champion. The Youth Champion was Emarie Hughson of Mitchell and the Youth Reserve Champion was Katelan Rogers of Lyman.

In the knitting category, Annette Haas of Gering was Champion and Corlys Treffer of Gering was Reserve Champion.

In the crocheting category, Norma Wells of Gering was Champion and Marjorie Stauffer of Scottsbluff was Reserve Champion.

In the handicraft category, Ron Kephart of Mitchell was Champion and Lori Karpen of Mitchell was Reserve Champion. Nick Kindvall of Scottsbluff took Youth Champion and Youth Reserve Champion.

In the woodworking category, Lee Floth of Scottsbluff took Champion and Randy Wiggins of Scottsbluff was Reserve Champion.

In the decorative arts category, Zory Zurcher of Mitchell was Champion and Jennifer Maag of Scottsbluff was Reserve Champion. Hassie Hood of Gering was Youth Champion and Alissa Sweley of Scottsbluff was Youth Reserve Champion.

In the dimensional arts category, Samantha Rivera of Mitchell was Champion and Lori Carter of Mitchell was Reserve Champion.

In the baked goods category, Joyce Schmunk of Gering was Champion and Jamie Houck of Scottsbluff was Reserve Champion. Koryn Hughson of Mitchell was Youth Champion and Kenna Krahulik of Lyman was Youth Reserve Champion.

In the canned goods category, Champion was Anna Tomoi of Mitchell and Laura Lebruska of Mitchell was Reserve Champion. Jayden Kanno of Morrill was Youth Champion and Kenzey Kanno of Morrill was Youth Reserve Champion.

In the photography category, Teresa Romey was Champion and Jeff Leanna was Reserve Champion. Youth Champion was Joel Painter and Jade Painter was Youth Reserve Champion.

2012 – Scotts Bluff County Fair 4-H Awards

Grand Champion 4-H Market Beef
Jayden Allen’s black steer “Cowboy Joe” was the Grand Champion 4-H Market Beef and overall Scotts Bluff County Market Beef. His red crossbred steer “Sherlock” was the Reserve Champion 4-H Market Beef.
Jayden, the 10 year old son of Jason and Jeana Allen of Mitchell had an amazing fair experience this summer, also winning a gold medal in the Junior Division of Beef Showmanship and the silver medal in the Junior Division of Sheep Showmanship.
The Reserve Overall Champion was Brayden Auer with her FFA Grand Champion steer. The fourth steer in the Championship drive was Reserve FFA Champion Beef, shown by Sarah Aschenbrenner.

Congratulations to all our 4-H exhibitors. They work very hard to complete their projects and get ready for the Fair. We will have shooting sports results when they become available.
